Healthy Living: Gaining Maximum Benefits
The concept of healthy living has been catching on the health radars of people around the world. Due to widespread media coverage, everyone feels that healthy living incorporates nutritious eating habits, regular physical activity and a vocation providing some level of personal fulfillment. But there are many other aspects to healthy living which people usually overlook. To gain maximum benefits from healthy living, it’s also important to consider:
- One’s spiritual healthiness and well-being
- One’s general mental disposition
- An overall sense of balance in life
How do I strike a balance in life?
This actually depends from person to person. For example, if someone spends a lot of time on the job, resulting in neglect of family or health…then that would be considered unhealthy. But you can also spend too much time exercising and ‘trying to get healthy’. Therefore, striking a balance in day-to-day activities is one of the most important tenets of healthy living.
There are lots of people, particularly the elderly, who learn this the hard way – when failing health and ineffective medicines force them to consider major changes in their lives. It’s best to learn hard lessons as early as possible…but that’s not our nature as humans, is it? Just take some time periodically to assess the various elements of your life and see if you can make small changes early, instead of drastic changes later.
Bottom line: Avoid the tyranny of the urgent.

Wonderful post on healthy living and gaining balance. One way we have gained a healthy balance is by keeping our lives simple. We have eliminated so many things from de-cluttering the house, no t.v.,slimming down meetings and work events, getting rid of debt…etc. It was amazing to see how our lives have changed.

Nice post which is not limited to healthy eating itself. Indeed there are more factors necessary for a healthy lifestyle. Keep posting because I come back

Thanks for posting this. I think combining a healthy lifestyle (referring to nutrition, exercising etc.) with a healthy spiritual mindset is vital. Back in march I posted a bit about this but I missed the balance point – which is absolutely important!
I don´t know if you dealt with manifesting your own reality and that stuff, but I found that since I care more about how I live my life, my abilities to manifest my wishes seems to have increased quite a bit.
In the end, it´s all about conscioussness.
Keep up the good work!

nice article, i think that your general mental disposition is something that people don’t pay enough attention to. too many people are too stressed out to relax and do things right. i think if people concentrated on relieving stress naturally instead of masking the problem with pills or whatever it would go a long way to improving america.

Of the three things you mentioned one has to have to maximize the benefits of living healthy, I’m very interested with number 2 which is about mental disposition. I really believe that whatever we aim to achieve like being healthy and being free from debt and stuff like that could be easily attained if you have the right attitude.
I’m not saying though that the other two things you mentioned are not as important as having the right mental disposition. I just have to put in my two cents for that particular factor.

It very important to maintain the right balance in life. Managing stress to attain a healthy state of mind plays the central role. Mental health, professional life and emotions all are interconnected and thus each need special attention. Making your life complex is not a good idea rather its good to go with simple living and high thinking.

Your post has made me think, although I always believe I lead a pretty balanced life, I’m not certain that I do. Although I make time for my family and to exercise etc, I think I often forget about “me time”. Yesterday, for example, I worked an 8 hour day, got home put the kids to bed, went for a run, had supper and then did another 4 hours of work. At no point did I sit down and watch some television, or read a book.
So this evening I’m going to make some time to just do almost nothing! Thanks!

It is very important to have a healthy lifestyle. Yet, most people now are finding a hard time to squeeze in a 30 minute exercise into their schedule or taking time to eat healthy because you no longer have the time due to a very hectic schedule at work. Health is very important and it should not be taken for granted. Thanks for sharing this post.

Yes, We have to accept the fact that, Not only indians but people from all over the world are now slowly-slowly turning their face towards Yogic Exercise, and Various breathing techniques. Well, we all know that life today is totally diff from those of 60s and 70s, where ppl were much healthier than of us, there could be many reasons to it, But to me a person can remain healthy by just following three simple steps:
1)Healthy Diet
2)Practising daily Yogic exercise and various Breathing techniques
3)Gymnastics
Why Healthy Diet ? – Bcoz in sanskrit it is saying that “whatever u eat, you makeover ur mind with
that”, So it would be better if we could just turn to Veggie
Why Yoga ? – Bcoz we need a particular rythm between mind and body, and only Yoga can
do that, Practising daily yogic techniques can really rejuvenates your body
cells and look you young again. lol
Why gymnastics ? – Now what you’ve eaten and whatever yogic breathes you’ve practised need
some platform, If yie are not enough strong, I don’t think so, you can carry
above two points
So sit back, relax, and startttttttt those three steps from today itself, Bcoz we are the Tomorrow

Healthy living is not all about having good physical health, infact you cannot be totally healthy until you have a healthy mind, they say a healthy mind reflects in the appearance,so once healthy inside the outside part is not a such great deal.Incorporating one -two methods in your daily life where in you are able to nurse the garden of your mind, soul and body will suffice your need of being healthy

I had looked everywhere for this article – something that I would do exactly what it said, without all the fuss and hassle. I had already wasted hours of time and who knows how much time on other blogs, so I have to thank you for this article. Thanks!

Eat healthy and be healthy is a very old and true saying. but if we need to be Healthy, Wealthy and Wise, we need to have a balance in our life. We should be mentally sound and spiritually at peace, then only we’ll be able to handle our daily life in most beautiful way. This will help us to live our life to the fullest enjoying every moment of it. Spending time or time management would be easier then.

I totally agree with you. Having a balanced life is very imperative for healthy living. A daily meditation for just 10-15 minutes makes the whole day energetic, enjoyable and smooth. We get that zeal for life by meditation. Moreover socializing is actually good because it helps to divert the mind from the daily matters or problems of life, and shows different phase of life. We talk, we laugh, we have fun with friends and its very healthy. Being extrovert is good.

This post makes me think about some changes in my life. I put all my efforts to my family, and sometimes I forget about myself. I think I need to make some time to relax and do something for herself. Thanks for the interesting article!

Great article. Some people say that they don’t have time to exercise, but I agree with what Stephen Covey said in “The 7 Habits of Highly Successful People”, that we don’t have time not to exercise. If we don’t exercise, we’ll become like stagnant water, which becomes spoiled. Moving water doesn’t get spoiled. It’s a question of discipline. By being disciplined and exercising now, we’ll avoid being ill and a patient in the future.
Exercise, meditation, healthy diet, social life, balanced work and sleep are necessary to healthy, happy and fulfilling life.

A good article and the responses show great insight into the problem of maintaining a balancing act in life that resembles the spinning plates trick used in the entertainment business. Trying to concentrate on all of the plates all of the time is how I feel most of the time.I think I’ve got them all working ok then something starts to slip.

I can feel how good and happy you feel by creating a balance in your life, just organizing your life gives you too much happiness and peace.
I do agree that healthy living is much more than what type of nutritions you’re feeding to your body. Your mental health is also important because that will be the key when fighting stress and tough times. Spirituality is the key, once you decide that you’re going to give sometime to your soul, you won’t realize or won’t deliberately try but you’ll be right on track of your life and no any unwanted circumstances will take you away from your happy and balanced life, you’ll have the power to fight all the problems then.

I decided to lead a healthy lifestyle after I contacted and get hospitalized for hives.
At that lowest point of my life, I had a hard time breathing, my body is swelling, I had constipation, stiff neck and I am so depressed.
Right now, I am practicing Yoga, Tai Chi, and I am also trying to become a vegetarian and becoming concerns with social issues around me.
I am thankful that I become afflicted with a terrible disease, if not for that, maybe I am still living an abominable lifestyle today.
I want to dedicate my life in helping others clean up their act, becoming humble, and becoming a responsible citizen and individual

In this age of quarrel and confusion, it is really hard to have a healthy lifestyle. But one who is dedicated to have a healthy body and mind could begin in changing his immediate surroundings.
Try arranging your room in a more contemplative or meditative ambiance. You could be a minimalist or zen.
And be with people who are also healthy conscious, it will help a lot. As they say, birds with same feather flock together.
This is the first things that I do when I got hives, and I am so depressed that I do not know what to do. I am just lucky that I have lots of friends who are into health and they are just like shadows, they never leave me. God bless to us.

I find that a daily morning walk does wonders for my mental and physical well being. It gives me a chance to clear my head and relax and both of these are so important to a person’s physical health. The benefits of taking a few minutes to yourself every day should not be overlooked.
November 26th, 2009 at 12:23 pm
Absolutely, daily morning walks are a great start to the day. It’s important to get a little physical exercise and to allow yourself time to think. And a walk is the perfect opportunity to do both.

Life balance is critical to health and health is critical to life balance. Often times people complain about the expense associated with health club memberships, exercise programs and eating healthy, but they are only looking at the short-term costs in the long-term, however, money will be saved by avoiding the expenses associated with diseases and ailments you will have avoided by being healthy all along!

When growing up it is good to learn how to keep healthy on body and mind with exercise and education. When you get to a point in your life when you are having a family and job and life’s entire situation if you have that foundation of good health by diet, exercise and keeping the brain motivated then those lessons will keep you going and can be passed to family members who can have a good start as well. Having a healthily life style is not only good for yourself but can be good all round as you will live longer with less risk of medical problems which in turn helps financially with paying less for insurance and medical costs. If you start learning healthy idea and techniques then they stay with you and are easier to keep maintaining.

Living healthy is both important for you but also for the entire country. People who live unhealthy for no reason put a strain on our health care system and this effects everyone. Everyone benefits from healthy lifestyle choices.

some very good points.. and I second its all about finding a balance. Mental health is equally important to this issue and I think you are spot on for pointing that out. Fortunately or unfortunately depending on how you want to look at it mental health and physical health are very closely related.

The number one element to achieve a healthy body is always balance — balance in everything we do, eat and drink. Once we have balance, our health won’t terribly suffer and our immune system could ably cope up with multitude of stress.
You have a nice post and blog — keep it up.

The most important thing to be happy and not chasing fashion standards have been imposed on us and it looks like everyone else, If you look at the statistics that people with excess weight happier thin people (pace yourself diet and exercise)

Great article, really made me think. Since I improved my diet and started attending a health club I have felt a lot more alert and generally happier, but also feel that I am over cautious with what I eat etc. Balance is the key!
