Morning Walks For Leading a Healthy Life

Hey, all you late risers, wake up, look outside, it is a beautiful new day. The sun is bright and the leaves and flowers are looking fresh. Get up and go out and take a walk in any park near your home. If you do not want to exert too much, take a gentle stroll through the park. If you are feeling a little more energetic, why not try a slightly brisk walk.

The health benefits of a morning walk are so many that it is surprising that everyone does not indulge in one. Your body is relaxed and much more responsive to external stimulants than at any other time of the day. It is able to exert much more at this time than at any other time of the day. Hence you are likely to burn more calories now than at any other time with the same amount of effort.

But much more than this is the beneficial effect on your mind. The air is clean, since the pollution levels around the city are at their lowest at this point. Your body breathes in more oxygen and there is a certain level of detoxification that happens now. There are fewer sounds around you, and you can hear the chirping of the birds and the occasional rustling of the leaves. Research has proved that nature’s sounds help to relax the mind and de-stress the body.

So what are you waiting for? Get up, wear a nice pair of walking shoes and just step out on the road to the park or the garden. You will love it.

    Hello,

I often have a difficult time getting up early, but I always try to force myself. And I really feel better.

As you said in your posts – morning walks are great and really make you feel better.

Worth forcing yourself out of bed.

Thanks for a great post :)

Agreed! I myself go for a walk every day and the day when i drop it just for a greed of getting a little more sleep, that day goes lethargic without any energy. The fresh morning air has something in it which makes you happy suddenly and you are filled with energy instantly, like its getting geared up for facing the day with all new vigour. A little bit of stretching and few minutes of walk has so much benefits that it also keeps your BP in check and lowers the cholesterol level. So i dont think anyone wants to miss out so much of benefits and lurk behind their bedsheets :P

I have usually followed the practice of walking in the evening near a track in my area, where there’s a gym so I used to go to Gym and walk in the evening, however sometimes I’ve also went in the morning and I admit morning walk are better but what attracts you most is the amount of peace you get in the morning. Now I don’t walk at all lol and no Gym, however I am planning to start walking again to lose my weight so I will once again go walking in the evening.

Start slowly and once your body goes warmer, then slowly speed up but don’t exert too much pressure on your body and legs, just let it move, speed up slowly and if you’re from level 1 to level 2, stick on level 2 for 5-10 minutes and then shift gears and move to level 3, this way you won’t harm yourself and slowly you’ll develop a nice pace without realizing that you’re doing much better than others and feeling much better without any pain. Just like we do in our cars with manual transmission. You don’t start with 4th gear on.

I look forward to my walk almost everyday. Walking is a great exercise for my body, but also for my mind. I have a somewhat stressful job as an Activity Director at an Active Adult Resort, so walking helps me clear my head of the million things running around in my brain. I enjoy walking around the neighborhood, seeing nature and breathing fresh air.

Like the other commenters, I have a hard time getting motivated in the morning. It helps to take my two dogs (high energy… Aussie & Border Collie) with me.

  7. AMES from JFREE SPORTS PICKS Says:

I usually try to do atleast 20 minutes on my treadmill right when I wake up, then a nice long walk with my while strolling our son, and I have lost almost 10 pounds in about 2 weeks. I also did a 5 day fast cleanse during this time though too, but I have felt GREAT LATELY, and have had a lot more energy.

    Thanks,

What I try to do at least twice a week is get up in the morning before work and go for a jog. There is no better feeling when you are done and you get to see the neighborhood wake up, the sunrise, the birds sing, all while increasing the health of your body and mind.

Walking is a great way to keep healthy. Only problem here is the heat in the summer. I usually take a 15 minute walk with each of my big dogs. Having a pair of Mastiffs that like to walk is a great motivator in the morning!!

Great advice, easier said than done though. Getting up early to take a walk before the crazy day begins would help with my stress level but I cannot get out of bed.

Early risers have everything to gain and almost nothing to lose but majority of us go with our comfort levels and do just the opposite. It does take some conscious effort in the beginning until body adapts itself to your new healthy routine.
