Regular Health Check-ups are Important
When was the last time you visited a medical practitioner, when you did not need to? Most of us go only under duress, when we feel that we will not be able to get any better if we do not get any professional advice.
Nowadays, however, the importance of an annual health check-up has become common knowledge. Almost all corporates have made it mandatory for their employees to undergo one, and in the process it is hoped that even the families will undergo a check-up.
The most important motivation for having regular check ups is to be able to keep a watch on the hidden mechanisms of our body. Many diseases do not have an outward manifestation in the form of pain or fever. Breast cancer is first seen in the form of a very small lump. Uterine cancer is found only by a Pap test.
Regular checkups are also needed in order to keep our blood pressure and blood sugar under control, specially if we are young.
The checkups also help you to keep track of your body parameters and a watch on your vital signs
The basic tests done during a health check :
Medical History: The doctor will ask you questions about your previous history, so that he has some idea of your present health.
Physical Test: These include things like a pap smear, mammography, a treadmill test, and cardio tests.
Lab tests: These include comprehensive blood tests and urine and stool tests. The tests being conducted differ for each age group, ranging from tests for prostrate cancer and bone densitometry for Osteoporosis.
Do not delay it, go and get one done as soon as possible. It will be time and money well spent.

Regular checkups are a valuable tool in maintaining good health. Taking proper care of your health at the right time can prevent a lot of problems in the future. It’s good to find out that you have a problem, before it is too late to cure it. So appropriate tests should be done at the right time.

The main aim of a check-up is to detect illness at an early stage, or better still prevent illness occurring in the first place. Some tests saves so many lives that it is definitely worth the money spend on it. In adults up to about 40 years, a check-up every two years is appropriate. Older adults should be seen every year or so.

I know a guy that never wanted to go to the doctor – but when he went in finally for a routine check up the doc found a cancerous bump on his arm, luckily it was found early enough that they could treat it properly, so yes, routine check ups are very important

I will say the regular health check-ups are a must and can be life saving. That being said, it is also wise to have some form of health insurance as well, many health insurance plans offer yearly preventive programs that have no co-pays. It’s a win win for everybody.

Regular checkups are definitely beneficial, even if it is hard for many of us to believe that we’re not just wasting the doctors time and taking them away from seeing someone who is actually displaying symptoms. Much better to catch things right away, before there are symptoms.
