I also watch what makeup and skin care products I put on my face because a lot of them contain ingredients that clog pores. It's hard to find the right makeup, because even a lot of products that say they are noncomedogenic can still clog pores!

My wife (in her 70's) has done everything right her whole life long as far as eating and caring for her health and skin in particular are concerned. Unfortunately she has more wrinkles than the average lady of her age. I am sure she got this disposition from her parents. On the other hand, her "condition" would have been much worse had she not been so healthy in general. I, on the other hand, have a very smooth skin indeed. I have been drinking more than average water my whole life long and the only oil I ever put on my skin is sunblock when I have to work in the sun or play golf.

The old adage “you are what you eat” not only applies to our overall health and nutrition, but how our skin looks and feels as well. Perhaps the simplest way to maintain a healthy, balanced diet and ensure the skin is getting optimal nutrition from the foods we eat. Eating a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, including more dark green and orange vegetables always helps.

Women who drink a lot of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and cola-type drinks are more likely to have tired-looking skin and to suffer from conditions such as greasy skin and spots. This is because these drinks contain caffeine, which prevents your body from making good use of the vitamins and minerals from your food. Try to drink no more than three cups of coffee, tea or other caffeine containing drinks a day.

Try and drink 6 to 8 glasses of water per day. This will help to keep your skin moist, refreshed and supple, which will help the skin fight off developing wrinkles and blemishes. Your outside appearance reflects what's on your inside. Maintain a healthy and balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables and sunflower seeds.

Try and maintain a constant sleep pattern. Sleep is the body's time to restore itself and to re-energies the body's organs and skin. By maintaining a regular sleep pattern, you will feel more energized and your skin will become more healthy and fresher looking.

The most important way to take care of your skin is to protect it from the sun. A lifetime of sun exposure can cause wrinkles, freckles, age spots and rough, dry skin. Sun exposure can also cause more-serious problems, such as skin cancer.

Other than having water one may also consider the following thing. The most important thing you can do to help achieve, younger healthier looking skin is to stop smoking or never to start. Smoking causes premature aging and yellowing of the teeth and skin. The tobacco that is released into the air dries out your skin, while the smoke you inhale constricts the flow of blood to blood vessels, therefore preventing your skin of essential nutrients that your body supplies.

It’s a pity people spend so much money on different commercial products, while ignoring the cheapest and most effective one - water. Sufficient water intake prevents dehydration, cleans out the body, and promotes healing processes. Body is 90 percent water and needs it for digestion, healthy skin, blood circulation, temperature control and lots of other reasons. Drink your water! Have beautiful skin and stay healthy!

Water is required to keep one’s skin moist and supple. If you don’t get enough water to drink throughout the day, your body will absorb water from other minor organs, the skin being one of them. This can cause your skin to become dry or flaky and in some cases, even oily. Beverages like coffee, tea, sweet juices and aerated drinks harm the skin and should be avoided.
